The Capital Times is reporting that a witness heard one of Ball’s attackers make that statement, but police have no knowledge of other threats against football players.

But Penn State alumnus Tom Price of Factoryville, Penn., took it to the extreme. He told WNEP-TV in Scranton that he and his wife Sally equated the NCAA’s punishment to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 people died in those attacks.

Ray’s statement is perhaps the strongest indication of just what kind of punishment the NCAA will hand down against Penn State on Monday morning.
