Rick Pitino’s son will coach Florida International University

Louisville Cardinals basketball coach Rick Pitino said that his son, Richard Pitino, is leaving his staff to become the next head basketball coach at Florida International University.

“You know I’m delighted, but I’m going to miss (him) terribly,” Rick Pitino said. “I think one of the great things in 35 years of coaching was spending three years with him. Watch him grow as a basketball coach, and you sort of don’t want it to end.”

Photo: “Injured” Orange Bowl Mascot Released From Hospital

The Orange Bowl tweeted a photo of “injured” mascot Obie being released from the hospital.

Obie was using crutches, had a few bandages and was missing a tooth. The mascot was even carrying a sign that read, “Not Cool D_Cook25.”

Video: Paralyzed Eric LeGrand Sits Up On His Own

Paralyzed former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand actually sat up on his own. Check out the video and you’ll see this amazing accomplishment.

LeGrand has been able to sit upright on his own for as long as 23 seconds during physical therapy.

A physical therapist has to lift LeGrand into the sitting position, but he’s able to hold that upright position on a regular basis.

Eric LeGrand’s Inspirational Tweets

Paralyzed Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand has been sending inspirational messages to his nearly 6,500 Twitter followers as he continues to make progress.

He’s “moving the arms little by little.” That’s clearly a sign of hope.

He’s received lots of encouragement from his fans ever since he started tweeting last April. Meantime, Twitter has become a soapbox for LeGrand as he continues to inspire others.
