Video: Southern Miss. band chants, “Where’s your green card?”
Watch the video and listen closely to the crowd noise. You’ll hear members of the University of Southern Mississippi band make racist taunts at Kansas State point guard Angel Rodriguez. They chant, “Where’s your green card?”
Southern Miss President Martha Saunders apologized to Kansas State for the band’s behavior during Thursday’s NCAA Tournament basketball game in Pittsburgh.
“We deeply regret the remarks made by a few students at today’s game,” Saunders said. “The words of these individuals do not represent the sentiments of our pep band, athletic department or university. We apologize to Mr. Rodriguez and will take quick and appropriate disciplinary action against the students involved in this isolated incident.”
USM interim athletic director Jeff Hammond met with Kansas State athletic director John Currie.
“I want to enunciate to him that the band’s behavior does not represent Southern Miss,” Hammond said.
By the way, Rodriguez was born in Puerto Rico. That’s a U.S. territory. No green card required.
Rodriguez and Kansas State had the last laugh. They defeated Southern Miss, 70-64.

Yeeeah… probably time to take this one down. But I guess that would interfere with your plan of pigeonholing everyone into following an SEC team so that Wal Mart can sell hats.
