Video: Dolphins’ Chad Johnson released from jail
Miami Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson had no comment as he was released from the Broward County jail following his arrest on charges he head-butted his wife Saturday night.
Meantime, the Dolphins started a Sunday practice session without Johnson. He’s trying to win a spot on the team.
Johnson posted $2,500 bond and the judge ordered him to have no contact with his wife, former VH-1 reality star Evelyn Lozada.
Police say Lozada plans to press charges.
A police report said the couple returned to their Davie, Fla., home after shopping Saturday night. Lozada found a Walgreen’s receipt for condoms in the trunk of their car. An argument escalated, ending with Johnson allegedly head-butting his wife. The couple married last July 4.
“She has a pretty good-sized laceration on her forehead,” Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle told The Miami Herald.
Then, as Lozada ran away to a neighbor’s house, Johnson started screaming: “I don’t give a f@*k, I don’t give a f@*k about my career!”
Johnson claims Lozada initiated the head-butt.
Johnson is already on thin ice with the Dolphins. That’s because of off-color comments he made during a team news conference last week. Johnson swore repeatedly, said he smoked marijuana with rock star Gene Simmons during the offseason, and was even considering a second career in pornography.
“We are aware of the situation and in the process of gathering all of the relevant information,” Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said.
This is Johnson’s second arrest for domestic violence. While in college, Johnson got into an altercation with his girlfriend Chevon Jex. Johnson was placed on probation and forced to take mandatory anger-management classes.
The Dolphins cut Johnson from the team Sunday night.
