New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin — who led his team to a Super Bowl victory last February — is absolutely distraught over missing the playoffs.

“I can’t even describe how it hurts. I don’t know what to do, ” Coughlin told WFAN’s Mike Francesa. “I’m walking around here like a crazy man. I am. I don’t know what to do with myself. We shouldn’t be doing this right now. The pain of it is almost indescribable.”

The Giants finished the season 9-7. They failed to make the playoffs after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in a 42-7 blowout. The Chicago Bears’ win over Detroit eliminated the Giants last Sunday.

“When you have things in your grasp — and our team has developed a reputation for playing well under those circumstances — and I think that’s what’s so frustrating for you and for everyone else who follows our team so closely,” Coughlin said. “’OK, they’ve got the thing set, the table is set for the Giants, this is where they normally step up and play extremely well.’ … But we’re taking it all apart right now as a coaching staff, and hopefully we can provide some answers.”

Coughlin is desperate for answers. He’s trying to understand how his team went from 6-2 to 9-7.

“For us, right now, to not be in the playoffs — to be the Super Bowl champion and not be in the playoffs —I f that doesn’t bring you down to earth and create the kind of humility that comes along with getting your nose back to the grindstone, I don’t know what does.”

Tom Coughlin is trying to figure it all out. Meantime, NY Jets head coach Rex Ryan is vacationing in the Bahamas following his team’s disastrous season.

Two teams that share the same stadium have coaches that are light years apart in their approach to the game.

In my opinion we need a few tweeks, on offense Manning Needs to Man up and be the Captain, he’s got 2 SBC, and so he can get your face and let you have it…good and Bad,also quit forcing STupid passes, throw it out or take the SACK…at we still have the ball, the running backs need to be coach to run North and South quickly…not gingerly, too much shucking and jivin…hit the dam Hole…the offense of line need to Man up and open dam hole.. hold your dam Block for 3-4 second so the RB can get through the hole if you make one, and get some Heart and Pride…and quit getting push around or ran around…if you need help dammit ask for it, quit lettting our QB get kill,…Defense…Play Defense..Period.. quit letting them run up the middle and push you on your dam Back….quit letting them run turn the Dam Corner, DE…… CB…play the dam Ball…quit going for the corney fakes,

I think its time for the NYG to get some New Blood in there Organization, they have done very well with what they got, but we need some young Ideals going forward, They don”t have that Killer instinct, starting with the coach, he doesnt have No flair, and now in football thats part of the game, when a opponet can’t stop a play, you run that play over and over until they stop it, but NYG coach go away from what not being stop and throw a pass, when we’ve been running all over the opponet, its suck as a fan to not see someone being jackup for and held accountable for some messed up plays, not all of them, its football, i know, both when your coach and quarterback both have stupid looks on there face, makes you wonder why are the not in someone face about catching, holding a block, tackling, rushing, Playing with some heart, ….We need to get Players who want to play with Heart all the time, we have a few, but we need to weed out the garbage, sometime when you Win, you really Lose, especailly when you let another team take your heart and the game at the same time,

Tom, I would like to think that your time has come to let go of the Giants. I doubt if the players are hearing what you are saying. This is why you finished out of the playoffs
