David Beckham: Action film star?
Retired soccer star David Beckham is reportedly interested in the big screen and becoming an action film star.
Beckham is good friends with actor Tom Cruise. In fact, the Beckham family joined Cruise to watch the Los Angeles Kings beat the San Jose Sharks Tuesday night to advance to the Western Conference finals.
The National Enquirer reports that Beckham is hoping to begin a major movie career with Cruise’s help.
“David has always wanted to be an action film star, and Tom promised him a long time ago he can make those dreams come true,” a source told The Enquirer. “Now is a great time to transition into film while he’s still young enough to land top-notch roles.”
Cruise’s films have grossed more than $7.3 billion worldwide. He’s also part owner of the United Artists movie studio. So, let’s just say he knows the business and can make Beckham’s dreams come true.
Beckham has plenty of time on his hands now. He and Cruise seem to be getting along quite well despite a rough patch a few years ago when Cruise reportedly tried to get the Beckham’s interested in Scientology.
“David and Victoria distanced themselves after Tom began trying to sell them on the idea of Scientology,” the source said. “But David still kept in touch with Tom and believes he’ll stand by his promise to help him become an action star.”
Of course, it’s not like Beckham needs the money. He’s worth about $250 million and was one of the highest-paid athletes in the world.
But Beckham is only 38 years old.
He’s clearly looking at options. In fact, he visits Miami this week in his quest to own a Major League Soccer team.
What’s he going to do? Sit around the house?
