Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition rookie Katherine Webb has reportedly joined IMG Models — that’s the same modeling agency that represents SI swimsuit models Kate Upton, Chrissy Teigen and Hannah Davis, as well as New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
Webb, who dates Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, changed her Twitter profile to indicate the switch to IMG from NY Model Management.
It’s not clear if Teigen opened the door for Webb at IMG. But Webb and Teigen have recently worked together at MTV and Spike TV events.
Webb hopes to turn her 15-minutes of fame — which has now lasted for six months — into major modeling assignments for Vogue.
IMG can certainly help her get to the top. Not only is the company a major player in the modeling world, it’s a sports marketing behemoth. It represents the biggest names in sports, including Maria Sharapova, David Beckham and Cam Newton, among others. IMG even represents the NCAA and its 89 championships. So, McCarron has an inside track for top sports representation when he turns pro next year.
Webb, 24, became an instant celebrity last January after ESPN cameras focused on her during coverage of Alabama’s victory over Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship Game.
She’s gone from a struggling model to a reported net worth of $1 million, after landing photos shoots for Sports Illustrated and Vanity Fair, as well as TV gigs with “Inside Edition” and ABC’s “Splash” reality show.
“I was actually having a hard time in Los Angeles booking jobs,” Webb said on Dan Patrick’s radio show last February. “I was already with an agency. And after all this happened, people started calling. Now I’m finally able to make some money and help out my family and myself.”
It looks like Webb’s career is on fire and she may be helping McCarron’s career along the way.
