Does CBS sports anchor Greg Gumbel miss his old stomping grounds at ESPN?

He used to anchor SportsCenter early in his career. For some reason, he had ESPN on his mind when he anchored Sunday’s NCAA basketball tournament coverage.

Check out the video. He was speaking during the network’s halftime show and teasing the Duke-Michigan matchup. All of a sudden, he ended up putting his foot in his mouth.

“Eighth seed Michigan and the top seed in the West, the Duke Blue Devils. That’s coming up next on ESPN,” Gumbel said. “On ESPN? Good grief, Charlie Brown.”

All of a sudden, I have visions of Lucy taking the football away as Charlie Brown is about to kick it.  But, let’s give him points for recovering quickly.

Duke ended up beating Michigan 73-71 to reach the Sweet 16.

And it all happened on CBS.
