Sporting Kansas City Welcomes Toronto FC In The Most Unusual Way

July 24, 2011 Eastern Conference, SOCCER 1 Comment

Let’s set the scene. Sporting Kansas City played Toronto FC in a Major League Soccer match in Kansas City over the weekend.

According to KCKRS, a soccer website, Kansas City’s video team didn’t have photos of Toronto’s players for the introductory video.  So they decided to wing it.

They inserted images for Canadian icons Justin Bieber, Celine Dione, Dudley Do-Right, Bob and Doug McKenzie, William Shatner and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, among others.

(Editors note: Kansas City pulled the video after a few days. Here’s the only picture we have.)

The introductory video might have had a psychological impact.

Kansas City beat Toronto 4-2. It was the team’s 12th straight MLS match without a loss.

You mean their video department is so inept that no one thought of going to the TEAM WEB SITE, EMAIL the team or any of hundreds of things they could have done.
Even if the team had no pictures, you just type in a players name like hmmmm, Frings perhaps, in Google Images and voila,….TONS OF PHOTOS of Mr. Frings. I tried it with KFCs Santos and it worked.

This was funny and should be taken as a joke.
But claiming that your computer literate crew is so incompetent is embarassing.
