Video: Cam Newton Isn’t Used To Losing

October 9, 2011 NFC, NFL No Comments

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is looking and sounding frustrated these days because he’s not used to losing. Check out the video. He’s pretty depressed.

“We just came up on the short end of the stick again,” said Newton. “Very disheartening. It hurts, losing. Period.”

The Panthers are now 1-4 after losing to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, 30-27. All four of the Panthers’ losses have come by seven or fewer points.

Newton won a junior college national championship followed by a BCS National Championship at Auburn. He picked up a Heisman Trophy along the way.

The NFL’s No. 1 draft pick is used to smiling. He’s the one who said he wanted to be an entertainer and an icon. But right now, he’s in the dumps.

“I mean, you’ve got standards,” Newton said. “And when you don’t meet that quota on yourself, you just ask yourself why. There’s a reason we keep losing. And I want to know the reason.”

Newton has thrown for 1,610 yards. He has seven touchdowns and six interceptions so far this season.

He remains optimistic the Panthers can turn things around.
