Ex-Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones’ text to student: “It was love at first sight”
Former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader and English teacher Sarah Jones is in court this week for an $11 million defamation suit against TheDirty.com.
But her text messages to her former student-turned-boyfriend, Cody York, are capturing all the attention.
“I fell in love with you a long time ago,” Jones texted to York in November 2011. “I knew when I saw you we’d be together, freshman year. It’s weird because you were like,14, and I was like, 22 … It was love at first sight.”
Last October, the 27-year-old Jones confessed in court to having sex with York when he was 17 and her student at Dixie Heights High School in Northern Kentucky. She originally denied the allegations. York, now 18, never cooperated in the criminal investigation. The two were seen holding hands for the first time as they walked out of the courtroom following her admission.
Jones pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and custodial interference. She avoided jail time and doesn’t have to register as a sex offender. She’s on probation for five years.
In this separate defamation case, Jones is asking a jury to award her $11 million for lewd posts made about her on TheDirty.com. One of the posts alleged that she had sex with every member of the Cincinnati Bengals team. She says the posts caused her severe mental and emotional distress and weren’t true.
But attorneys for TheDirty.com told jurors that the text messages Jones sent to York prove that Jones is sexually immoral and, therefore, the posts about Jones that were on website aren’t defamatory.
Jones testified that she didn’t fall in love with York when he was 14. She said she only told him that because he can be insecure and she was trying to reassure him.
Just a few weeks ago, Jones set up a new Facebook page that shows photos of the two of them looking very much like a couple.
That’s certainly an unusual way to prepare for a trial like this one.
A person of trust is the category that teachers are in when it comes to students. There is an lack of balance of power. This is a sad but too often reported situation. An adult seeing a 17 year old in a sexual way and acting on it, is reprehensible.

@Chris ………where exactly is this proof of a txt to him when he was 14??? Try reading the article again and pay attention to detail. Nothing was ever said about any txt at 14. Sexual predator??? Seriously?? Go back to baking cookies with your mom, dude. You have serious insecurity issues.
if this would have been any “normal” or non professional person , they would have been slammed for being a sex offender..just goes to show you how corrupt the system really can be. she is a pedofile since there is proof of her sending texts to this boy when he was just 14 years old..in my eyes she is a sexual predator.
